Bigblueflyfishing was established in the year 2000 after an extensive renovation and reinvention of the former Hickory Hill Resort & Grocery. The location was previously owned by the McAnaugh family, and later became Alice’s Restaurant at Hickory Hill owned by Alice Elsing. The property has been a mainstay in the Town of West Point. Hickory Hill included cottage rentals, a store and tavern and had long been a gathering spot for fishing, food and drinks. Many ‘fish tales’ were told over a few cocktails. By 1999, the location was transformed with condos replacing the cabins and the restaurant space renovated and updated. Randy and Shelly Kaltenberg purchased the restaurant in 2000. With a new name and new vision for a great seafood restaurant, they created a friendly place to gather in a relaxing supper club atmosphere.
In 2009, Dan and Kris Cunningham bought Fish Tales to continue its tradition and expand its reputation for excellent food and service in the Lake Wisconsin area.
